Group Tours

Visitors are always welcome for either a short-day tour or to spend some time in our self-catering accommodation adjacent to our Heritage Centre. Nano Nagle Birthplace operates to the highest environmental standards. 

The following programmes are available for Groups of 5 or more (Advanced booking essential):

1 Hour Visit - A Heritage Tour, €7 p/p
Visit to the heritage room with guided introduction to Nano Nagle story in the Blackwater Valley in the early 1800’s. Guided walk around our grounds and environmental features of Nano Nagle Birthplace.  Tea/Coffee/cake.


2 Hour Visit - A Heritage Tour with Cosmic Walk, €10 p/p
As above with The Cosmic Walk.  This is a 2KM walk through fields, woodlands and by the river bank telling the story of the evolution of the universe. Tea/Coffee/cake.

Groups - A tailored programme can be developed for group tours.

Visitors - can book in advance to stay on site in our self-catering accommodation (for costing see Accommodation page on the website) and do the following activities:


- Walking Tours of the Blackwater area
- Farmers’ Market – there is a farmer’s market on site every second Saturday morning from 10.30 am to 1.00pm.

Other Amenities in the Blackwater Valley:


Walks in the Nagle Mountains: Killavullen Loop - Starting just south of Killavullen village, this walk follows woodland paths and forest roads ascending steadily to wind its way around Corran Mountain. There are excellent views over the Blackwater Valley, Avondhu Region, and Nagle Mountains 


Doneraile Wildlife Park, with its acres and acres of rolling parkland, deer herds and a cascading river is 11 km from the centre and was listed in the top five “Free-to-Enter” tourist attractions in the country by Fáilte Ireland in 2016. The ground floor of Doneraile House was opened to the public in 2019. The walled garden is currently being refurbished.


Annesgrove Gardens seasonal opening from 2019 with plans for longer opening, is 4 kms from the centre. 


Mallow: the traditional main commercial centre and administrative centre of north County Cork  is 9 km from the centre. Visit Mallow Castle with its gardens and parklands, the Clock House, its many restaurants and shops.

There is a direct train to Cork, Dublin, Killarney and Tralee. Direct Bus to Limerick and Galway. 


Cork the second largest City in Ireland is 40 kms away. Apart from the many attractions in the City, you can visit Nano Nagle Place, the location of the tomb of Venerable Nano Nagle, the Sisters Graveyard, Gardens, Heritage Centre and Historic Buildings. See https://nanonagleplace.ie/discover/


Blarney: 8 km from Cork city, this historic village is most famous for the Blarney stone as well as the Blarney Woollen Mills.
